On The Don't Ask Don't Tell Hearings

I think this is just a more of a political battle than rights. They want you to think that they are helping the nation and standing up for human rights and liberty, thereby distracting you from all the rights they are stripping from you.

But i guess i have to comment. Liberty means, liberty is for all of us. Not just a few select people, while all others don't count, no that is tyranny. That is what we don't want. That, is aristocracy. Liberty is for all of those, even those who we may not like.

But, so for the "conservatives" and Republicans, who lash out claims about "Oh yeah we're for liberty! Freedom baby!" uh, let's see how you vote on this. If you vote no, if they vote this down, they lose massive credibility, and i hope some one will call them out on it. I am a libertarian so i am for 100% liberty, yes even for gays. So if they vote no, they are saying, not everyone should receive freedom. Some are exceptions. A small group of people up on the hill can decide what liberty we have and what liberty we don't get. That is pure tyranny. and it is not just in this issue, it is on taxes, on spending, on regulation on everything.

So the Republicans, for the sake of their credibility on being for "freedom" need to vote yes on this. The Democrats, this is smart politics on their part. I can see the headlines er the commercials now, "Republican _____ says he's for liberty and rights of the individual, but he voted against giving gays the rights to serve in the military. That's not freedom, that's fascism. Say no to ___. A vote for ____is not a vote for liberty."
